Woman Found Dead In Car After PA House Explosion, Fire Identified: Coroner

The woman found dead inside a burning vehicle following reports of a house explosion in Manheim Township has been identified, authorities announced on Friday, Feb. 28.

Ronda Meckley, 65, of Manheim Township, was discovered inside the vehicle near Hoffacker Road and Gabco Lane after firefighters extinguished the flames around midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 25, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Fire crews had initially been called at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, for reports of a house explosion but arrived to find only the burning vehicle.

Meckley was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday. Her cause and manner of death remain under investigation. An autopsy was completed on Thursday, Feb. 27, but results are pending further review, officials said.

Northern York County Regional Police continue to investigate. Authorities confirmed that Meckley’s next of kin has been notified.
